Thank you to each of you who are helping me with the research--especially Michael and Patty, who had me take a look at Desha County and what Dick Baxter has been up to. Looks like he took it to whole nother level in 2021 (and did something also extraordinary in 2020). He's now at the top with 265 species for his year.
[image: image.png] What is even more impressive is how he apparently did this mostly on his own, without the help of a large birder population beating the bushes around him (which I deduce from his 99.6% of the species, and the gap between him and the next birder in the county). The number of birds I'm able to find has definitely been helped by the number of amazing birders around me.
