Subject: [CT Birds] 1/15/25 - Branford, Lake Saltonstall - REDHEAD
Waterfowl numbers have been building at the north end of Lake
Saltonstall in Branford where it is still open water. There have been
large numbers of Hooded Mergansers and Ring-necked Ducks among others
and today I had a beautiful male Redhead. The light was fading so I
couldn't get a bead on all of the other ducks. Could be something else
interesting among them.

The north end of the lake can be accessed from the "hikers" parking lot
at the north end of Hosley Avenue in Branford. This is a Regional Water
Authority property and a permit is required for access. Info here:
