I finally caught up to the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker in the NW quadrant of Mile Square Park today. It was over 100-yards east of where I'd originally found it, generally south of signed backstop #8. It was in a well-worked casuarina tree on the golf course side of the fence, directly north of the white flag denoting the hole on the adjacent green. It's a juvenile/immature bird with substantial red on the crown, but it's not as solid as I had previously thought. As the throat remains devoid of color, I still assume it is a female. (Three recent photos of juvenile males I've seen showed red speckles appearing on their crowns in tandem with their initial appearances on their throats, but more research is needed). I'd post photos but they're lousy.
An adult and juvenile Snow Geese were on the lake in the NE corner of the park.
