Hey everyone,
Paul Siceloff, a resident of Pearl Mill Flats (formerly Duke Tower - 807 W Trinity Ave Durham), has worked to get the tower on the northeast of the building as well as the old watchtower in the middle of the complex recognized as historic buildings by the preservation society. He wanted me to let you guys know that they are fundraising for its preservation. He wants me to denote that there is no immediate need for repairs but it would be more of a long term preservation fund. He also shared that a few of the residents were concerned with the amount of poop in the chimney tower since it has a big opening up top and no way to open it and clean the bottom. It seems like it wouldn't be an issue and it would take care of itself but I'd love an expert opinion from an actual biologist or ornithologist.
