The last five seconds of the poor recording that I've attached (two versions, with the second, edited version including only the last 10 seconds) is the best I could do to document the bird. But the double and triple chimps, which sounded pretty similar to a Song Sparrow, at a location where the species had been observed on several occasions recently, indicated this species to me."

- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-119.871869&<ll...>,-119.871869
- Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S209054522
- Comments: "Feeding with a largish flock of White-crowned Sparrows in the western part of the horse corral area, seen from a distance from along the fence line on the north side of the western part of the corrals. Large and heavy sparrow, clearly larger than adjacent White-crowneds, with gray brown head and mantle, very prominent white lateral throat patch that wrapped around and behind the darker auriculars. When the bird turned away, you could make out the very dark, blackish centers off the flight feathers, which had pale edges and contrasted sharply with the lighter gray-brown mantle. Also noticeable from a distance was the heavy blackish streaking on the throat and upper breast, and the lighter streaking against the otherwise pale flanks and belly. A faint white area was evident in the loral and superciliary area. Other important features were less obvious--the white on the wing was not really discernible from the distance at which we watched the bird while it was on the ground, feeding. I saw it in flight once, and could only discern narrow white lines on the wing coverts. Also, we were too far to really make out how large the bill was."

- Media: 2 Photos
- Comments: "Looking at photos confirms what I was thinking "in the field": the chestnut-sided warbler continues from the 4th! It was foraging south of the bridge, in one of the more distant trees (maybe a sycamore?). Poor views both at the time and in photos, but a number of things help to ID it. Tail cocked, which shows a white tail with two small dark notches at the tip as well as light UTCs. Two white wing bars, and a white eye ring. Bird was back lit, but photos show a greenish crown."
