Subject: [OrangeCountyBirding] greater scaups
If anyone is interested in a reliable spot to find Greater Scaups, I've
seen as many as four the past couple weeks at Bolsa Chica. They are among a
much larger group of Lessers on the inner Bolsa side of the tide gates at
the end of Wintersburg channel. I have consistently seen two immature
female Greaters, and today I had two adult males together. Obviously, it
can be very difficult to be certain of an identification of Greater when
both species are diving as they usually are at this location, but it was
easier today with so many of them loafing.

Yesterday, the juvenile Little Blue Heron and immature Reddish Egret were
both foraging in the shallow pools to the north of the Lebard Park bike
bridge.
