Undeterred by picnickers and volleyball players just a few yards away."

Long tail, overall elongated look, and medium to longish bill for a passerine that had a slight downward curve and pointed tip. Pale eye contrasting with gray-brown face. The head and upper parts were otherwise a fairly bright reddish brown (crown, mantle, rump, tail, and wings), except for two narrow but distinct white wing bars. The underparts were whitish washed with buff (strongest on the flanks) and overlain with bold black streaking."
