I waited out the snow before going to Denison early afternoon. I picked up one new Jan bird there, a single Yellow-rumped Warbler. I also saw a pair of Purple Finches feeding on some berries--stunning with a bit of sun on them & the snow-covered branches. There were a couple Hermit Thrushes & decent numbers of robins. Only sparrows were White-throated & Song. I proceeded to the Tagg Rd area. Roads are in better shape. I finally found one Lapland Longspur for my Jan list amidst a large flock of Horned Larks. It obliged me by landing close to my car. I did not see any Snow Buntings or raptors. Sparrows: Am Tree, White-crowned, Song & White-throated. A short drive by the Land Lab only provided lots of juncos and some more Am Tree Sparrows. Peggy WangGranville
