Subject: White wing doves
Sometime this fall, I was with a group of birders in Central Oklahoma when
someone mentioned that they had yet to observe a white wing dove. I
replied, "That's because they are all in my backyard!"

Again, here they are in Central Edmond, hogging the feeders, though I have
done my best to discourage them with cages, tiny perches, clinging feeders
and even a DIY dove guard. Earlier this morning, I shooed away at least
25. Though not quite as many in raw numbers as starlings in years' past,
they are twice as big as a starling so they eat just as much when they
gorge themselves.

Just my rant for today,
Resa Pace
