Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Negative report-- Vega Gull (1/9)
I arrived at the Lower Otay boat ramp a little after 4p.m. this evening (1/9) and was informed by another birder that a Bald Eagle had just flushed the gulls from the docks.I waited around the area for about an hour hoping that some would reappear. A few did, but the Vega never did. Most of the gull flock settled on the water down by the dam and remained there for the rest of the evening.Just as the last bit of light was disappearing, I spotted what *might* have been the Vega in the flock down by the dam (looking down on them from the road). I will review the very low-light, very distant photos and see if anything identifiable is in them.If the gull is still on the lake, tomorrow may offer another chance.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
