Winter Wren (Troglodytes hiemalis) (1)
- Reported Jan 07, 2025 14:45 by Matt Brady
- Camino Corto Open Space and Del Sol Vernal Pool Preserve, Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-119.8673469&<ll...>,-119.8673469 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S208449383 - Comments: "Continuing bird, down in the riparian at (34.4136768, -119.8701404). Very uncooperative, and I was unable to take photos or grab a recording, but it did call a bit, and it did pop up briefly for quick views. The calls were the typical Song Sparrow like “chimp chimp”. Visually, this bird had a fairly pale throat and supercilium contrasting with dark chocolate brown body plumage. I generally put little stock in field marks for separating this species from Pacific, but based on my quick views it seemed to be on the extreme end of the PAWR–WIWR spectrum."
