It definitely appeared to be a fly catcher but I am not confident of the precise ID. It was flicking its tail like a fly catcher and had a sharp flat bill."

- Comments: "Continuing bird found by Tom Edell and Roger Zachary. Photos show some of the key characteristics that differentiate this bird from Bell’s Sparrow: the back and scapular striking is darker and more prominent and continues right up to line between nape and back. The malar line is weak, with light gray flecking. Lacking a prominent breast spot. Birds were primarily foraging on ground and running between shrubs with tail cocked up; some tail flicking observed when perched."

The bird was larger than surrounding birds, had a bright yellow head and black body. It was several minutes before a large flock of 800-1,000 birds lifted from the dairy unit and partly settled on distant wires to the east. I was able to refind and photograph the male on a wire."
