Very uncooperative, I managed a couple of glimpses, only enough to tell what the bird was. My composite view was of a medium-sized, long-tailed bird, white below with dense black streaking contrasting with a rufous back and a long, stout bill. No view of the face or wings."

Much more generous looks this time on the park side along the fence. Foraging for about 5 minutes or so just to the right of the blue trashcan on the fenceline. Able to see the yellow eye this time, along with the characteristic streaky belly, white wing bars, and reddish-brown wings and back."

- Comments: "Soft pale gray-white below on chest and breast and slightly deeper gray upper parts. Rust rump. Black piercing eyes and very slight white around eye. Visible feeding on one tipu tree in parking lot."
