Subject: [AZNMbirds] Cassin's Sparrow at Canoa Ranch
This morning I took a chance on the Amado WTP for the reported Ross’s Goose and RB Merganser. ZIP Nada… so it goes.
Stopped at Canoe Ranch: 4 Wigeon a Coot and a Pied-billed Grebe on the pond. Started walking around the pond, with birds sunning and flitting about all over the place. Brewer’s by the dozen, and a few White Crowns, then a Black-throated…. Approaching the outlet area, this rather bland bird popped up, joining several Brewer’s in a shrub…Bigger than Brewer's. Scope view told me “Take Pictures…quickly!”
Back of my brain said “Maybe Cassin’s? “ Why? I’ve only seen ONE ever. Did know what it wasn’t which helps…. At home, Sent it to Homer Hansen, who said “Cassin’s is right” Yippee!
Continuing around the bosque: Vesper’s, Savannah, Lark, Lark Bunting, Lincoln’s, Abert’s, ; missed a Lawrence’s Goldfinch according to several others…
Still, “Little Brown Jobs” made my morning.

(Autocorrect keeps changing Canoa to canoe…. Not so AI)
