Hope everyone has a GREAT 2025!
Aberdeen CBC was conducted 1-4-25. This was the 13th Aberdeen count since restarting this circle. Nine folks participated on a cool breezy day. Birds out in the open we're tougher to find. Sheltered areas with tree/shrub cover was of course much better. We was able to locate 40 species which is close too but only slightly lower then our average.
Individual count is 2038 which is average with years of similar species count. So for cool breezy weather and lack of snow cover consider this a nice count for us. We have 2 count firsts this year a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and a Brown Thrasher. A count week bird first appearance is of a White-crowned Sparrow. I'll list our species below with number of individuals followed by number of years that species has been on our count. My THANKS to all participants!
