And about those common mergansers, I grabbed the scope this afternoon and
tried tallying them at the lakes and Spy Pond. The wind, waves, and diving
means this is still an undercount, but I got to 489 -- 324 on the lower
lake, 72 on the upper lake, and 93 at Spy Pond.
The snow goose was still around in the grass between the cistern and Mystic
Valley Parkway. The Canada geese seem of two minds...ignoring the snow
goose until they decide it's time to nip at its tail again.
