Just a heads-up that there have been several (up to four) Short-eared Owls seen hunting for the past couple of evenings in the southwest corner of the Hanshaw Road fields by the Bluegrass Lane Natural Area. A link to the approximate location is at THIS PIN DROP<https://maps.app.goo.gl/BkfAYP641kr5u6Ty9> from Brad Walker which was posted to the Cayuga-lake-basin-chat channel on the New York Birding server on Discord earlier this evening. Seems birds are reported starting around 4:45pm, but that time may vary depending upon ambient light (tonight it was mostly overcast).
Please use caution wile parking or walking anywhere along Hanshaw Road—when it gets dark out, it is incredibly difficult for drivers to see parked cars or pedestrians.
Sincerely,
Chris T-H
