Two days ago (12/7) I saw a Snow/Ross’s Goose in a group of Canada Geese flying out of the perc ponds along San Tomas Expy in Campbell, at 3:22 pm. The group continued NNE over and past John D. Morgan Park. Yesterday afternoon (12/8) I refound the goose at the same ponds and confirmed Snow Goose. This location can be viewed from Waldo Rd (37.27635° N, 121.95650° W). From here you can see the nearest pond, as well as the middle pond when the water level is high enough.
I didn’t see any geese here when I checked mid-morning yesterday. Recently I have seen geese here early in the morning, including the same 3 Cackling Geese that were present yesterday.
In general these ponds can attract diving ducks. It is a popular spot for Common Mergansers. Yesterday a Common Goldeneye was here, and in past winters I’ve seen scaup and Redhead.
