Subject: [VTBIRD] Northern shrike in Bridport, and lots of raptors
A mature northern shrike was perched in a shrub next to Rt. 125 at the
intersection with Lake St. late this afternoon.

In about an hour of driving through Addison and Bridport, we saw at least
8 harriers, 7 red-tailed hawks, one dark phase rough-legged hawk on Middle
Rd., and 2 Cooper's hawks. A northern mockingbird was seen along Middle
Rd., and a probable late brown thrasher on Rattlin Bridge Rd.

A flock of over 100 snow buntings flew along Basin Harbor Rd., and about 30
horned larks were feeding along Gage Rd.

A great blue heron flew past the observation deck on Gage Rd., and
another poor great blue heron was standing belly-deep in the thin ribbon of
water remaining in Whitney Creek at the Rt. 125 causeway.

Unfortunately, we did not find any snowy owls.
