By this time, many active birders have become aware that a female Western Tanager is being seen at a private feeder in Germantown, Maryland, Montgomery County.
We just set up a "stakeout-type" eBird Hotspot for this bird. This Hotspot will be active on Sunday morning, December 8, and thereafter. It is called:
"stakeout Western Tanager, Germantown (2024)"
Please use this Hotspot if you see the bird (which we hope you do).
The neighbors here have asked birders not to park in the spots reserved for residents. Please be very aware that continuing access to this western rarity at a feeder is dependent on the good sense of birders. As always at sites like this, please act as if the rare bird is on your very own property!!
Thanks.
