I got an email this morning from a resident who lives near the location where the Carpinteria Painted Bunting has been seen recently.

For context, this is the same homeowner who originally reached out in the fall of 2023 to let local birders know the bunting had been visiting his feeders. In other words, he's responsible for birders knowing about this bird in the first place.
I know this is an old problem, and that a bird this exciting in a chase-able location is going to tend to draw a crowd. For what it's worth, though, I wanted to pass the word to anyone who's birding there to do their best to keep quiet, and to let others know they should do the same. Not only will this avoid bothering nearby homeowners (who might eventually get upset enough to complain to the Sanitary District, which could lose us access), it will increase the chances of their actually seeing the bird, which has been kind of shy.
