This morning while scanning the river, I heard a kingfisher rattling as he flew under Boardman's Bridge, New Milford - it sounded like a machine gun firing, so loud! Then he returned -- twice - pursuing a female, again rattling under the bridge. Were it mating season, perhaps "I'm a macho kingfisher, my rattle is really big!"
