Subject: [VTBIRD] an eight bald eagle morning
With 20 + mph winds with temps in the teens, it was indeed a brisk morning
walk, My usual trek was diverted due to the calls of bald eagles near
Memphremagog. Then I saw two, then two more and then three more all
navigating the fierce winds while seeming to watch the lake edge below me.
And then rising from the lake's edge came the eighth eagle, this one with a
large chunk of fish in its talons as it flew off. While I've never seen 8,
I have seen a few eagles cruising along the lake edge in these windy
conditions. I assume that they find fish carcasses pushed up against the
shore. A small flock of about 25 Canada geese were also seen flying south
over the white caps and buffeted by the strong winds.

A good morning on the border in Derby.
