The Chilean Flamingo at Colyer Lake was one of the most famous exotics to have occurred here. I still remember the scene 28 years later. It may have been Steven Feldstein that pointed to the Chilean ID. The journal Pennsylvania Birds includes the following description (V10N3, p. 162): "EXOTIC: An obviously escaped indiv. was the Chilean Flamingo present at Colyer L. from 8/24 to at least 9/8 (Tim O’Connell, m.ob.)." I remember reading in American Birds that a Chilean Flamingo was seen in a Midwestern state, I believe Indiana, after the Colyer Lake sighting, so apparently it was making the rounds that summer. There are probably archived listserve emails about this sighting.
