American Goshawk 1 thought bird was a redtail because of the size.
stopped and looked at it through 10x binocular. it was perched in a tree
about 15" above the ground facing us breast & belly very streaked, no sign
of a belly band. was not shaped like a buteo, was more slender. tail was
long and wedge-shaped.
at home looked through various raptor field guides. the bird was exactly
like Plate 202, page 193 in Raptors of Eastern North America by Brian K.
Wheeler. juvenile.
we turned around and went back to see it but it was gone.
American Kestrel 3
American Crow 3
Common Raven 1
Eastern Bluebird 12
Dark-eyed Junco 7
