Subject: [sbcobirding] Ocean Park - White-winged Scoters
I spent a bit of time at Ocean Park early to mid-morning. Best birds were 2 White-winged Scoters which came in off the ocean and flew right over my head. I focused on the face as they flew towards me and clearly saw the two white oval patches on the face of the bird I focused on and as they flew away the white wing patches were clearly visible. They landed in the estuary upriver of the bridge but by the time I worked my way back over there they were nowhere to be seen. There were also 3 white geese well upriver, but I did not have a scope, and it may not have helped given the distance and the shimmer.
