Around 7 AM yesterday, four gulls circled the 9th hole pond as the sunlight emerged over the Santa Catalinas. The first two that I was able to see clearly, were Ring-billed.
Were these the same four as on the 11th?
They did two loops then headed SE towards Omni Tucson. Perhaps they are day-spaing there, and roosting points unknown.
Two days ago, A ruckus happened across the 7th hole pond as five coyotes were gang attacking a sixth, eventually driving it into the pond. Why isn’t known, it didn’t look good for the attack, but a golfer interrupted the event, the five retreated, the sixth sat in the water.
I was carefully watching as I controlled my two dogs. I followed a golf group in carts, using them as a shield to exit the area.
Small flocks of Western Meadow Larks (7) and Western Bluebirds (5) were about. Warblers are getting harder to find.
