The SCVBA field trip to Little Uvas, ordinarily closed to the public, had some good highlights, notably an unexpected couple of *Wilson's snipe* on one of the ponds. Other notable bits: a dozen *ruddy ducks* (they breed on the ponds), 4 *gadwalls* , an amazing number of *ruby-crowned kinglets* , two of them prominently displaying their crowns, and several *hermit thrushes*. If you want to see the preserve, you have two options: 1) wait for the next public event there or 2) become an OSA volunteer, strongly recommended.
