Subject: [slocobirding] Morro Bay, Savannah Sparrow.... Large-billed.
This coastal sparrow is considered a rare winter visitor to the Morro Bay State Park Marina estuary. The large bill, rather heavy grayish-brown streaking and lack of yellow in the supercillium all are features, that when closely observed, help to separate this seasonal rarity from the year round residents that are commonly seen along the estuary.

This morning there were two Large-billed Savannah Sparrow subspecies present, moving together in the brush seen from east end of the State Park boardwalk.

I have put a photo of the Large-billed and one of the resident Savannah Sparrow for comparison on my flickr site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kaarenp/ <http://www.flickr.com/photos/kaarenp/>
