Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Nelson's Sparrows
The two Nelson's Sparrows continued this morning at Kendall Frost,
appearing at 10:13am. Two were seen together, and were seen flying off into
the marsh as the tide fell.

A note about looking for Nelson's Sparrows - I have found that they tend to
pop up roughly an hour AFTER the tide has peaked. Tides of 7 foot or higher
are best, but sometimes they can be seen even on the 6 and a half foot
tides. When you look up the time for the tides, make sure you are looking
at times in the bay. My app set for Mission Bay showed the high today to be
at 9:03, and the birds showed at 10:13. If you looked up the ocean tides,
the high was closer to 8am, which means you had a loooong wait until the
tide started to fall enough for the birds to get active.

The next really high tides at Mission Bay are:
Friday Dec 13 6:50am 6.9
Sat Dec 14 7:30 am 7.1
Sun Dec 15 8:11am 7.1
Mon Dec 16 8:51 am 6.9
Remember, birds most likely an hour after these times!
