Subject: [sbcobirding] Mergansers, Swamp Sparrow, Prairie Falcon at Cachuma
I'm sorry to report unusual birds from a place where access is restricted,
but it's best to let folks know what's out there.
4 female-plumaged *Common Mergansers* were in the middle of the lake and
those, of course, can be seen by renting a boat. A *Swamp Sparrow* was in
tules at the NW extreme of my route shown on my checklist. There are only
a very few records of this species at Cachuma and less than 2 handfuls in
the Interior District of the County. A *Prairie Falcon* was working the
shore of Storke Flat as I arrived.
