Went to the Plain Grove area late this afternoon wanting to see if Short Eared Owls would start flying at dusk. Did not have any luck today with the owls but had a few good sightings in the area. Saw 33 Sandhill Cranes in three different groupings - 4 in one group, 19 in the next group and 10 in the third group. Had 1 Northern Harrier ( immature ) hunting the fields. Also had 5 Hooded Mergansers ( 3 males & 2 females ) on a small body of water.
