Hello All,

Today I headed out to Shawnee Trail CA. It was a beautiful morning and the birds were great! Lots of raptors and sparrows, along with two Northern Shrikes and a Spotted Towhee. I was fortunate enough to be sitting in my car along SW 160th Lane looking at Fox Sparrows when a dove flew onto the road in front of me. I knew right away it was a ground dove by the size and flight pattern. The dark wing spots, scaly neck, and pinkish color confirmed Common Ground Dove. This was a fantastic surprise!

As Edge would say, bodacious birding!

Cheers,
Kelly Ormesher
