Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] male Baltimore Oriole returns to Rohr Park
An adult male Baltimore Oriole has returned for another year to Rohr Park in Bonita, making now two adult males in town with the other bird being the well-watched male at Harry Griffen. The Rohr bird was called a returning female for much of last winter until when late in the season it started putting on a whole lot of adult male plumage! This morning It had exactly the same M.O. it had last year, which is appearing at dawn in the blooming Blue Gum eucalyptus trees on the immediate east side of "Provence House." Also, present in the same trees were two female Bullocks Orioles and two Western Tanagers, all of which like the Baltimore can be quite sneaky and stay buried in the leaves and blossoms for long periods of time. The best time for seeing all those birds this morning was between 6:20 and 6:50 a.m. Elsewhere in the park there is the usual adult male Vermilion Flycatcher.
