Hi Everyone!
Yesterday, Edward Rooks, Melanie Barnett and I led a SCVBA field trip to Bear Creek Redwoods Preserve! Our favorite sightings included the 5 *Hooded Mergansers* on the pond, including 2 males. We also really enjoyed a *Townsend's Warbler* eating lots of termites then resting on a branch, belly full, we presume. Other birds spotted included *Ruby-crowned Kinglets*, loads of *Dark-eyed Juncos*, a couple of *Hairy Woodpeckers* and *California Quail*. We also thought we were hearing a *Northern Pygmy Owl* tooting from the Salander Springs Trail at trail junction 17. I didn't include it on the ebird list but wanted to mention that just in case someone visits the location.
