Costa's Hummingbird (Calypte costae) (1) CONFIRMED

- Home, San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.6737125&<ll...>,-120.6737125 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S202313956 - Media: 4 Photos
- Comments: "I've been watching this guy for weeks. He can't wait for me to return the feeder and meets me part way, and sips while I hold the feeder. There has been at least one Costa's Hummingbird in our yard the entire summer. Low quality pictures are cropped from a video off my phone."
Lucy's Warbler (Leiothlypis luciae) (1) CONFIRMED
- Reported Nov 12, 2024 09:00 by Tom Edell
- Morro Creek mouth, San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.8624411&<ll...>,-120.8624411 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S202296394 - Media: 4 Photos
- Comments: "When I first saw this bird I expected it to be a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, but the short tail and more compact body quickly gave the impression of a Lucy's Warbler. I noted a gray back, off white underparts, and a pale eyering. Although not seen in the field (the bird was across the creek) my photos show red streaks in the crown and a reddish rump. (Photos)"
Blackpoll Warbler (Setophaga striata) (1)
- Reported Nov 12, 2024 11:58 by Isaiah Woodard
- Cal Poly--San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.6608403&<ll...>,-120.6608403 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S202324760 - Media: 4 Photos
- Comments: "Placeholder ID, hoping for feedback. Will attach photos shortly. Overall dark above, white throat and belly with dark stripe across breast. Observed on campus near the library building."
The last two photos of the bird in the shade provide the best representation of the bill, head, and chest colors. The bill size is the best determinant, though it is on the large size, but not big enough for Blue Grosbeak. Also, it appears that the Indigo Bunting spreads and swishes its tail like a Blue Grosbeak. (T.E.)"
