A "GOLDEN" day up on Coon today !!
The consistent strong winds with some higher gusts kept the big
birds moving today with 11 Goldens passing the watch site !
The day started off with a bang as we had Balds, Redtails, Sharpies,
and a few Harriers passing the watch early on. The spotting was great with
partly cloudy skies aiding us in finding some of these high fliers. As we
got into
late morning the clouds dissipated and we were left with deep blue skies.
A great job of spotting from the crew and a few guests helped in finding
many of the Redtails and Goldens that passed by in the afternoon.
We had (2) Immie Goldens pass the watch site together at 1:35pm giving
us great looks as they glided along directly overhead. Bald Eagles were
moving
up and down the ridge throughout the day. A local adult male Peregrine was

seen a few times during the day as it hunted along the ridge. Seemed as
though
there were birds moving around us most of the day. Our Bird of the Day
selection goes to the 2:52 Immie Golden that came in just off ridge on the
reservoir side. This bird offered a slow approach giving us great looks as
it turned and maneuvered in the wind in some sweet light.BEAUTIFUL !!

Non-raptor Observations:
Ravens- 9
TV's
BV
Skeins of Canada geese on the move
Loons- 6
Porcupine in front of the watch site.
