Today I had the dumb luck of stumbling upon Connecticut's fourth record of GRAY KINGBIRD. I was at Milford Point, going out past the houses to the hook point, when the bird appeared on the top of a bare tree. I didn't notice it being different at first, as I was basically looking into the sun. However, as I took a photo or 2, I noted it had quite the bill. I got a few more shots, aiming to try to get a better angle but trying not to disturb it. However, it took off and flew towards the river, in the direction of Knapp's Landing. I lost sight of it over the river, so it really could have gone anywhere, or even kept flying straight and just kept going past the airport.
Many birders went out in force to attempt to relocate, but to no avail. Hopefully the bird stuck around and can be refound tomorrow!
