Subject: [LACoBirds] LA Birders Webinar, 11/12: White-eyes on the Brink of Explosion?
Dear Birders,

You are invited to the next LA Birders webinar:

On the brink of Explosion? Identifying the Source and Potential Spread of
Introduced Zosterops White-eyes in North America

With Devon DeRaad, PhD

Tuesday, November 12 at 7pm – on YouTube <https://tinyurl.com/2y6efp3f>

Join us for an engaging webinar featuring Dr. Devon DeRaad as he explores
the growing populations and potential source origins of White-eyes
(Zosterops), a genus of birds introduced to both Hawaii and Southern
California.

Dr. DeRaad will present his latest research findings on the ancestry of
these populations and discuss how this updated genetic information helps
project the likely geographic spread of White-eyes in Southern California.
Additionally, he will highlight how this group of birds provides an
intriguing model for understanding the role oceanic barriers play in
shaping biodiversity. Be sure to join us and this webinar offers a unique
opportunity to deepen our knowledge of the ecological and evolutionary
dynamics driving the success of introduced species, with a focus on the
genus Zosterops.
