A report on Meadow Park White-tailed Kites roost.
I watched kites congregating in the tops of tall trees (especially one sycamore), in the NW “corner” of this San Luis Obispo city park. Also present were Santa Barbara birders, Peggy Kearns and Jeff Hansen. We counted approximately 25 birds present tonight, Thursday November 7.
For anyone who hasn’t been there, I think that the best location to view the evening arrivals, view the social display flights over the roost trees, and observe the actual choosing of perches, is to stand at the Exposition Drive bridge at the west end of the park.
