Hi Ada,
Last January I built my own itinerary birding in Costa Rica in Monteverde
and Arenal. I hired local guides in advance and just booked my own hotels
and drove a rental SUV. I wanted flexibility and opportunities for my
non-birding spouse to plan his own excursions. If that interests you too,
then let's connect on a one-to-one email. And I'll plug Southwest airlines,
in the winter months you can get a nonstop from BWI to Liberia in the NW
part of the country close to many beach resorts. It is a fabulous, modern
airport. I recommend it. Driving up to Monteverde was challenging and slow,
but if you plan for it, you'll be ok. It was a fabulous trip. Loved it!
Best,
Denise Ryan
