The Prothonotary Warbler was easily seen today. It approached to within
3-5 feet of the birders, intent on finding food.
Directions: Enter Wilder Ranch State Park, pay fees, then park in the
Day Use Parking area, walk towards the ocean and you will find a dirt
road that goes North-South. Follow it North, past the back end of the
Maintenence yard. Continue on this road and it will go downhill, and
past the RR tracks--this is the area where it was seen about 11 am.
There is a private house and buildings (the corrugated structure) on the
hillside, as noted below by Ann.
Thank you, as always, to the birders that were there when we arrived,
and put us on the bird. Park Rangers did not know about the bird. Good
luck!
