Hi all,
Despite good but not truly optimal conditions for dipping, I failed spectacularly to miss the bird this morning. The Bendire’s was the second bird I laid eyes on, popping up in a half dead olive tree about 100 feet south of the dead end sign. Look for the perfectly good loveseat discarded next to a pile of trash in the leeward side of the line of olives.

Hi all, I just checked my photos. They are pretty bad, but they confirm to me that it is indeed a Bendire's. The only other possibility would be the much rarer Curve-billed. Coordinates are 33 53.239 -117 7.790. It was near both a NMockingbird and a Rock Wren in the line of shrubs west of the abandoned and destroyed horse ranch. A little skittish, but not too bad. Small thrasher which I initially thought was Sage, but the breast was cloudy brownish with blurry spots, not streaks. Yellow eye, short bill. Overall greyish brown.
Good luck if you chase this!, Bob Packard

Just got a message to share from Bob Packard
There is a Bendire's Thrasher on Davis Road north of the old horse ranch, in line of bushes on west side of road. This area is north of the main San Jacinto Wildlife entrance.
