Hi fellow SD Birders,  Just wanted to pass along the info that a new solar drip birdbath has been recently installed by TPSP docent Marci Rimlinger (God bless you, Marci). It is in front of the Torrey Pines S.P. Visitor's Center, surrounded by Torrey pines and other natural vegetation, and is now operational. This afternoon I went to check it out. It seems highly effective, even in mid afternoon, in the shade, without the drip working, as birds are constantly coming here to drink and bathe, many more than with the old concrete water pan they had before. I know it is not exactly a new Cabrillo Drip (not on a south-facing peninsula for one, and anyway, what could ever replace the Cabrillo Drip). But this one has great potential for attracting birds, and might be great during migration, so near the coast, maybe drawing lost birds from over the ocean. The drip is designed to work best in the morning hours, when the drip is active, which is perfect. The solar panel faces I think, the southeast. A modest eBird list during my 18 minute stay is at https://ebird.org/checklist/S201525941 .Â
Best birding to everyone,  SueÂ
