Weather: Thick fog to start the count. After an hour the fog was lifting and revealing cloudy skies that became partly sunny and eventually cleared by the end of the count. Moderate southwesterly winds. Very warm with temps in the mid-70s.
Raptor Observations: The day was slow to get started due to the fog, but once the sun came out the flight was steady despite the headwind. A nice movement of vultures including some small groups of Black Vultures. Moderate Bald Eagle activity but only four migrating. Eight harriers and 14 sharpies but only two migrating Coops. A bit light on the Buteos with 8 red-shoulders and 8 red-tails counted. For falcons there were two Merlins. The flight was a mix of altitudes with a few high streaming vultures and Buteos, but many other birds low or along the ridge.
Predictions: Tomorrow: Sunny with a few clouds. Near record high temps. High 78F. Winds SW at 10-15mph. Expect moderate migration.
Thursday: Considerable clouds early, then fewer later. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 74F. Winds NW at 5-10mph. Decent winds but the clouds may hold back the flight. Expect moderate migration.
Friday: Sunny. High 67F. Winds WNW at 10-15mph. Expect moderate to good migration. ======================================================================== Report submitted by David Brown (<davidebrownpa...>) Ashland Nature Center information may be found at: www.delnature.org
