Hello County Birders, Quick note to let folks know I located a White-throated Sparrow yesterday in Markleeville. It was foraging with an immature White-crowned Sparrow around the picnic tables between the creek and the sheriff's station. I also got to add a Belted Kingfisher to my cumulative Alpine list.
Elsewhere in Alpine County, I netted a Great-blue Heron at Indian Creek Reservoir, a Ferruginous Hawk along Diamond Valley Road, and a couple Woodhouse's Scrub-Jays along Mud Lake Road. I would welcome a second opinion on the jay IDs since California Scrub-Jays also appear to be in the area. https://ebird.org/checklist/S201343686
While at Indian Creek, I tried hard to locate either a Clark's Grebe or a Greater Scaup, without success. Nothing else particularly raire on the lake.
