Date: 11/4/24 9:28 am From: John Williams <john...> Subject: [AZNMbirds] Arthur Pack Western Grebes
As I arrived at 8:00, pair of Western Grebes were floating about on the 9th hole pond. The low angle sun made their white breasts pop. On one of the floats, a pair of Double-crested Cormorants sunned.
Ebird accepted the grebes, but questioned the cormorants, and four Barn Swallows also needed more details.
Three coyotes made me reroute, which then ran me into an Orange-crowned, a Yellow-rumped and a Common Yellowthroat in the same little area of brush.
The immature Prairie Falcon stooped past the pond. There are still many Mourning Doves to target. It is my 9th sighting in a month.
Ducks have been in and out. Haven’t seen a Mallard or Mexican Duck in a while. Ruddy numbers went up to around 90, but have settled back into the 40’s. Northern Shovelers are picking up, numbering in the 30’s now. 24 American Wigeons today.
43 species was a good morning.
