White-winged Dove (Zenaida asiatica) (1)
- Reported Nov 03, 2024 08:15 by David Compton
- San Miguelito Road at Sudden Road, Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.516743&<ll...>,-120.516743 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S201323458 - Comments: "Brown dove, larger than a Mourning Dove but similar in basic color, darker and browner than a Eurasian Collared Dove, with white patch showing along the bend of the wing while perched and some white in the tip of the tail."
Pacific Golden-Plover (Pluvialis fulva) (1)
- Reported Nov 03, 2024 10:50 by Tom Baxter
- Rancho Guadalupe Dunes Preserve, including Santa Maria River Estuary (SBA Co.), Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.6473815&<ll...>,-120.6473815 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S201316650 - Media: 1 Photo
- Comments: "First seen in flight with black-bellied plovers at a good distance. Immediately, I had impressions of golden-plover. I got some very distant photos and to my surprise it subordinates my in flight ID. It was darker overall, lacking the contrast of pale coverts/secondaries and dark primaries as shown in Black-bellied. Rather it was uniformly brownish in flight without the dark armpits. It was noticeably smaller in flight than the Black-bellied Plovers surrounding it as well. It was similar in size/bulk to a Dowitcher but without the long sandpiper bill. Once it landed it was still noticeably smaller but at a great distance. In the photos you can see a dark cap and even some golden coloring on its back as it’s standing next to a Black-bellied Plover for direct comparison. I tried to find it again at least an hour later with better lighting but could not relocate it. A peregrine was terrorizing all the birds on the pond and I never saw this bird again in flight or with the Black-bellied flock, in spite of many views of the flocks flying around in excellent lighting. Photos to be added."
American Bittern (Botaurus lentiginosus) (1)
- Reported Nov 03, 2024 08:00 by Lynn Scarlett

- Comments: "continuing--brown and white striped breast, bittern "position" with head pointing up; flew in from west and landed in reeds opposite the water outfall. see photos"
Tropical Kingbird (Tyrannus melancholicus) (1)
- Reported Nov 03, 2024 14:53 by Richard Norton
- UCSB North Campus Open Space (formerly Ocean Meadows Golf Course), Santa Barbara, California

- Comments: "Bright yellow belly. White on chin and chest different from the smaller, contained white area found on a Cassin's. Forked tail. First on fence. Then went up to top of a eucalyptus tree near the parking lot."
Summer Tanager (Piranga rubra) (2)
- Reported Nov 03, 2024 11:12 by Mark Holmgren
- Atascadero Creek--Patterson Ave. to Ward Dr., Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-119.8178063&<ll...>,-119.8178063 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S201334719 - Comments: "Two female plumaged birds together in 2 places along the bikepath. In both places there were very large cottonwoods and the birds were in them, but also in willows. Very difficult to get good looks at them, impossible for me to get any photos. They were always chasing each other. I saw this: 2 yellow-billed tanagers with no wingbars. One bird showed a brighter orangeish-red breast than the other. No vocals heard."
