Hi birders,
First, big thanks to all who report rare birds on mbb, ebird, and others
who called me. Your reports and calls encouraged me to go out today.
When you're gimpy, it's great to be able to go right to the correct
location, and enjoy great bird sightings without having to shuffle
around a bunch. Also, shout out to a special lady who called me back to
see the Bunting, and all of the birders at both sites who helped us get
on the birds, including a young fellow with super sharp eyes, and great
bird ID skills.
Now to the birds:
The PROTHONOTARY WARBLER was feasting on what I think were
hatching/flying ants. Seen around 2pm at Wilder Ranch Sate Park at
lat/long 36°57'35.2"N 122°05'23.8"W, on a dirt road leading up from the
railroad tracks, near where it's been previously reported. This was an
exceptionally cooperative bird. A few large photos:
The warbler seemed almost oblivious to the hikers, bikers, and birders
going by, or gawking. Full ebird report from this location:

The LARK BUNTING was also seen at the previously reported location in
Santa Cruz. It was in the yard of the home at the corner of Oregon and
Lighthouse. I'm still processing some 650 images of both the warbler and
bunting, so just one so-so shot of the Bunting so far:
