I had a similar experience at Orman this morning - the biggest group of waterfowl I saw was a bunch of decoys. Just as we were about to leave, though, a pair of enormous swans flew right over us. I don't know swans well enough to be sure what they were but they honked like trumpeters, as far as I could tell. Also there were flocks of elusive sparrows that I think were juvenile white-crowned and I heard one invisible bird go over that sure sounded like a snow bunting. So many positive IDs today!
